Rabbi Russell is a psychotherapist in private practice in Jerusalem. He holds an MSW from Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work and completed the Clinical externship program at the prestigious Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy in NY. He is a popular author and speaker who has presented on many mental-health related topics throughout the world.
His expertise is in working with the Orthodox Jewish community on issues relating to Marriage, struggling adolescents, teens & their families, treatment of trauma in general, and in particular sexual abuse. He is considered an authority on the challenges of "at risk" children & teens.
Rabbi Shais Taub has delivered Torah lectures and classes to audiences on six continents. He writes a popular weekly column in Ami Magazine and is the author of the bestselling book, G-d of Our Understanding: Jewish Spirituality and Recovery from Addiction as well as several other ground breaking works.
He currently serves as scholar-in-residence at Chabad of the Five Towns in Cedarhurst, NY.
He trains and consults others in treating children, families and adults who have experienced family trauma.
He also provides psychotherapy through his faculty practice and collaborates on research in child traumatic stress and psychotherapy.
Dr. Robins is the clinical director at Fresh Start.
Dr. Robins received his B.A. from University of Michigan and his Doctorate in Psychology from the Clinical Psychology Program at Ferkauf/Yeshiva University.
Dr. Robins did his Research/Dissertation examining the relationship between defense mechanisms and religious coping and how these constructs work together to buffer or exacerbate distress in a Jewish population.
He completed his Internship at Montefiore Medical Center and his postdoctoral fellowship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
Dr. Fisher, Ph.D. is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Instructor at the Trauma Center, an outpatient clinic and research center founded by Bessel van der Kolk. Known for her expertise as both a therapist and consultant, she is also past president of the New England Society for the Treatment of Trauma and Dissociation, an EMDR International Association Credit Provider, a faculty member of the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, and a former Instructor, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Fisher has been an invited speaker at the Cape Cod Institute, Harvard Medical School Conference Series, the EMDR International Association Annual Conference, University of Wisconsin, University of Westminster in London, the Psychotraumatology Institute of Europe, and the Esalen Institute. Dr. Fisher lectures and teaches nationally and internationally on topics related to the integration of research and treatment and how to introduce these newer trauma treatment paradigms in traditional therapeutic approaches.
Dr. Akiva Perlman, PhD., is an international speaker on topics of abuse, addiction, and trauma. He has educated more than 250 of the frum social workers from our community and is currently serving as a professor at Wurzweiler School of Social work.
Dr. Perlman is clinical director of ODA’s Wellness Institute, a clinic which serves the chasideshe community in Williamsburg. He maintains a small practice in Fresh Meadows where he resides with his Wife Tamar and children.
Dr. Tkatch is a health and social psychologist focused on clinical research. She currently works as Associate Director of Research at Optum (UnitedHealth Group).
Doctor Tkatch has co-authored numerous studies and papers covering a wide range of mental health issues within the Jewish and secular world.
Dr. J. Stuart Ablon, Ph.D., is the Founder and Director of Think:Kids in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is also Associate Professor and the Thomas G. Stemberg Endowed Chair in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ablon is author of the books Changeable, The School Discipline Fix, and Treating Explosive Kids: The Collaborative Problem Solving Approach.
Dr. Ablon received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and completed his training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Menachem Poznansk is a New York State licensed clinical social worker and author, who has worked in the field of substance abuse prevention, addictions treatment, and recovery support for the past eighteen years. Since 2004, Mr. Poznanski has served as Director of The Living Room (TLR), a program for Jewish young adults in recovery from addictions of all forms.
Menachem is the author of Consciously: Six Steps to a Vibrant Relationship with Our Creator, and the co-author of Stepping Out of the Abyss: A Jewish Guide to the Twelve Steps.
Menachem received his master’s degree in social work from the Yeshiva University Wurzweiler School of Social Work and lives in Cedarhurst, New York, with his wife Naomi and their two children.
Erik (Tzvi) Tischler Has spent the past decade and a half working as a therapist in the ultra Orthodox communities of Rockland and Orange counties In NY. His work with people suffering from the ill effects of trauma and misguided coping skills such as addiction and sexual compulsively has been well received by clients, families, groups, community leaders and referral agencies throughout the US, Canada and Israel.
He holds a BA from the University of New York at Albany and an MSW from Touro college in Manhattan. He has worked in emergency rooms, drug alcohol rehabs and in patient psychiatric units in the Bon Securs Hospital system, and St Vincent’s medical center. He is the former clinical director of the VLE wilderness program, currently serves as a clinician for Ohel’s crisis and Bereavement team and has a full time private practice in Rockland county NY. Originally trained as an artist, he sees his life’s work to bring light, joy and beauty to otherwise dark and lonely places.
Dr. Spivak is a Clinical Psychiatrist with over 40 years of experience in working with adults, adolescents, and children. Dr. Spivak works as a practicing physician as well as a consultant and advisor to a variety of institutions and organizations across Michigan.
Henchi Goldberg is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of New Jersey. She has her Masters in Social Work from the University of New England. Henchi maintains a private practice and serves as the high school clinical social worker for Beis Yaakov Passaic. Henchi works as a Somatic Practitioner healing the effects of stress and trauma. Henchi has trained in CBT, DBT, and eating disorders with the FBT/ Maudsley method and has worked from hospitalization to recovery. She has worked with the 12 steps in Montreal Canada. She has trained in sex addictions in the work of Dr. Patrick Carnes. Henchi will incorporate these as well as other modalities, and believes in a holistic approach to best serve the needs of each individual. She has trained in numerous parenting approaches, and draws from her own personal experience as a mom of a large family as well. Henchi lectures to educators and students, carrying messages of hope and healing and how to best integrate the whole person in the learning environment.Henchi Goldberg is a professional member of NASW and NEFESH organizations.
Lisa Rosenblatt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in individual, couples and family therapy. She is a graduate of Wurzweiler School of Social Work and received post graduate training in EMDR, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Internal Family Systems, CBT, and Skills Training in Affect and Interpersonal Regulation. Lisa's areas of expertise are addictions (alcohol, drugs, sex, and codependency), sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, parenting and marital issues.
